PDF to Text
Need to quote, translate, or edit text trapped inside a PDF? Pull it out as plain text you can paste anywhere.
What is the PDF to Text?
PDFs are wonderful for reading and terrible for reusing. Copying paragraphs out of a PDF often mangles line breaks and spacing, and some documents won’t let you select text at all. If you need that content in Word, Google Docs, a translator, or your notes app, retyping it by hand is a miserable waste of time.
The MuftTools PDF to Text tool pulls the embedded text layer out of your PDF and presents it as clean, copyable plain text — page by page, in reading order. Paste it wherever you need it, or download it as a .txt file. Multi-page documents are handled in sequence, and because extraction runs fully in your browser, confidential documents stay private. Free, no sign-up, no uploads.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Only if the PDF contains an actual text layer. A scan that is purely images of pages has no extractable text — that requires OCR, which this tool doesn’t perform.
Is the original formatting preserved?
Basic paragraph structure is kept, but complex multi-column layouts are simplified into clean linear text — ideal for quoting and editing.
Are my documents uploaded anywhere?
Never. Extraction happens entirely inside your browser, so private documents stay on your device.
Is there any cost or limit?
No. It’s free and unlimited, with no sign-up required.
